He blames the forex educators, technical analysis and the brokers for your trading misery, for sucking you in and stealing your money. At last, you think, finally I have someone on my side that understands where I am with my trading and will lead me in the right direction. I did the mentorship programme and whilst its aim was to really demonstrate that the market is random and has a lot of noise the lengthy exercises were really quite mindless considering that despite the markets randomness, there are certain fundamental patterns that the markets produce. Dirk ignores the fact that the market is made of peoples emotions which tend to produce non linear formations, a randomness form that can be recognised and which are repeated. Whilst his system can be profitable to some extent, you really cannot maximise your ability as a trader as the system is very limited to expand your skills and continually progress as a trader. The course does not teach discipline or the psychological factors of the market and the effect the market will have on you as a trader. Dirks paradox shift does teach many admirable issues such as leverage and what makes up the forex market and how it works, but in general his market randomness approach is only half baked and it is a shame he hasnt delved into the real trading issues of market psychology. If he had done so it would somewhat alter his view on technical trading. Instead he uses tech analysis, brokers and forex educaters as battering rams into the emotions of lost newbies who are looking for an answer to their trading problems which is nothing short of clever marketing. His over exaggeration on fundamentals to understand the bigger market picture is to blanket out the fact that fundamental variables are relatively insignificant in determining how markets behave in the short term (unless you are a news trader). Studies have shown that a short term outlook of one year or less, fundamental factors contribute to the overall return of investment, much less, than psychological factors. As others have said already, you will gain some useful info on leverage and the forex market itself. but take his paradigm shift with a pinch of salt and give the mentoring a miss. 2006-11-23 update I took the mentorship programme. It was irritatating at first having to go through a mass of data to study the effects of randomness of price action. After going through numerous excercises it has given a more comprehensive insight into the price action and has showed me where I went wrong with technical analysis for so long. The mentorship programme also gave me a clear understanding of the 4x1 method, with many tactics that are extremely useful that are not discussed in BWILC. Im affraid Phil NJ above seems to take a very blase know-it-all attitude to Dirks work. Maybe he has been scammed too many times and cant believe the benefits of Dirks approach. I struggled for nearly two years to understand the forex taking in most of the bull hit that surrounds it with the technical gurus, and this is the first time I have been profitable in two months since I started trading the bwilc approach and I have not closed a negative trade yet. Phil, do yourself a favour, try the methods properly, you will be pleasantly surprised. Dirk is a true master at this game and he has really thought things through with his method at the intellectual and practical level. 2006-06-07 STOP NEWBIE TRADERS. YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO NOT READ THIS BOOK. When 8 months into my trading and I wasnt getting anywhere I started looking around for answers. I came across a few psychology books and got snippets of information about what market makers and brokers were really up to. Then the realization sunk in that it wasnt just about psychology and not being ripped off by your broker that mattered. The importance of fundamentals showed its ugly head to the equation. But with these scraps of information I didnt know how to start to put it all together. Then the inevitable happened. I started to system hop with unsatisfactory results until I found Bird Watching in Lion Country. Its a sad fact that many traders have gone through the career processes I have described above, being devoured by the hopes and dreams of the forex mardi gras of education and systems promising you great profits. If only I had read BWILC from the very beginning, I would have saved myself thousands of dollars and a lot of pain and suffering. This is a must read for any newbie trader. You cannot imagine how much money, blood, sweat and tears you will save yourself by buying this book. The book is extremely down to earth and tells the market exactly how it is. It rolls together the most important components of the psychology of trading, fundamental analysis, what and who makes up the market and how, why it moves. It explains the reality of technical analysis and its relationship with the Forex education and brokerages/marketers. So many linkages are made. The book presents a holistic approach to the forex market and then gives you a building block approach of how you can trade the forex as a result of understanding how it all works. This is a must read book. Read this book before attempting any forex courses, seminars, signal services etc. It will clear a path through all, the Bull S in the industry and provide you with the edge that you need from the very beginning. I didnt find it a boring read at all. As soon as I started reading the first chapter I knew that this was exactly the information I needed and I couldnt put it down. I havent signed up for the mentoring but if its as good as this book I am sure it would be well worth it.
